Electric Animal Plant. A sentient artificial being.
A reactive installation on artificial and non-human sentience. The entity senses human presence and invites visitors to explore the space.
At the inaugural Zurich Design Biennale, Andres partnered as sound artist and interaction designer with the IAD R&D Team from ZHdK. Together, we conceived and brought to life an installation that delved into the future of Artificial and Non-Human Sentience. The creation we birthed is an uncanny entity, acutely aware of human presence, beckoning visitors to journey through and experience the surrounding space. My personal contributions spanned the co-conception, design, and execution of a spatial interactive sound system. I also designed generative sound compositions and integrated computer vision to achieve heightened interactivity and spatial responsiveness.
This innovative installation resonated across multiple platforms and events, including presentations at Toni Areal and the Tempe Center for the Arts. Further recognition came when it was featured in a notable publication that earned an Honorable Mention at CHI 2019. Keywords that encapsulate the essence of the project include Sonic Interaction, Electroactive Polymers, Responsive Environments, Artificial & Non-Human Sentience, and Computer Vision. It has graced venues such as TEI 2019, ASU, CHI, and notably, the Old Botanical Garden in Zurich.
